Ingrid Betancourt recalled Cristina’s support for her release and said that today a personal friendship unites them

“Obviously I have a personal friendship with Cristina Kirchner because I owe her everything she did for the release of those kidnapped in Colombia. That is very significant,” he stressed.

At the same time, she pointed out that there are differences between the two but she valued her role as leader: “In certain things we differ from Cristina, in political nuances that it is not up to me to settle at this time. I feel that she is a great woman and leader of the continent. She She was an extraordinary leader in her country.

The Colombian political leader had kept her country and the entire world on edge for six years, when she was kidnapped by the FARC in 2002 during a campaign that was part of her presidential campaign.

She could only be rescued in 2008, after six years in captivity.

Almost 14 years after regaining his freedom, and again focused on politics, Betancourt explained that “the mission is to unite the forces of the center, so that Colombia has the option of voting out of hatred and fear, which are the two things that have been given here as winners”.

In statements to “Contacto Noriega”, the program hosted by Adrián Noriega on La 990, he spoke about his expectations in the elections that are held in Colombia this Sunday and his support for the candidate Rodolfo Hernández.

Regarding the latter, he said that “he is the only central candidate who has a chance of going to the second round and the only one who can beat Gustavo Petro, who is frightening.”

“It is very important to get the center to go to the second round, that we can break the system of corruption and offer Colombia an option of peace, of reconciliation outside the extremes,” continued Betancourt, who rejects the candidacies of both Petro, the favorite in this first round, and Federico “Fico” Gutiérrez.

“Many of those who vote for Petro do so out of hatred against Uribe, Duque and Fico and those who vote for Fico do so out of fear of Petro, this leads us to a deadly crossroads.”

Referring to Rodolfo Hernández, Betancourt explained that “he has proposals that at certain times are more to the left and others more to the right.”

“The center looks for the most responsible programs and with the best solutions. It would be a surprise if it doesn’t go to the second round,” he confided.

“We have made a very detailed government program, and many of these proposals are going to be included in Hernández’s program,” he stressed.
