Weather: Changeable with rising temperatures

The coming week will be extremely unfavorable in terms of weather for school children: in the mornings, when school is in session, hours of sunshine are always possible, but the afternoons are dominated by rain.

Because the week started just as mixed as the last week ended: From a cool 3 to 7 degrees, the temperatures will rise over the course of the day to a maximum of 19 degrees. “For March, the weather would be pleasantly mild at the beginning of the week, but at the end of May it seems unusually cool,” says meteorologist Josef Haslhofer from the Central Institute for Meteorology (ZAMG).

Clouds will last all day over the southern highlands, rain is also possible in the afternoon. The Innviertel and the western Mühlviertel, on the other hand, can hope for sun in the evening.

On Tuesday, the weather situation across the country will be a little more uniform again: in the morning the sun will break through in places, causing temperatures to rise to up to 24 degrees.

From the late afternoon, showers are possible in many places. “It is not to be expected that there will be rain across the board, but there may be occasional heavy rainfall,” says the ZAMG expert. Tuesday’s pattern is expected to repeat itself for the remainder of the week.

Temperatures will continue to climb towards the weekend. On Wednesday it will be up to 25 degrees, from Thursday to Sunday 27 degrees are also possible. The rains can also become heavier and heavier from Thursday and develop into thunderstorms.

According to Haselhofer, it is not yet possible to say exactly what the precipitation situation will be like at the weekend. “At the moment it’s looking like rain, but that can still change,” he says. (vaba)
