Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint: Microsoft programs without which working on the computer is hard to imagine. Especially not in schools. The state of Upper Austria will therefore bear the license costs for the Microsoft package for all schools participating in the “Digital Schools” project until 2024. More than half a million euros have been spent this year alone.
“Digitization also presents us with major challenges in the field of education. We know that due to the rapid development, we have to pay special attention to digital media and their careful use,” says education officer deputy LH Christine Haberlander.
In addition to the package, a separate user is created for each school. In order to be able to ensure that the schools receive the correct licenses, all locations were asked to submit their data.
“Together with the parents, our goal is to prepare the children and young people as best as possible for their future. We don’t yet know exactly what this will look like,” says Haberlander. “But we are convinced that the digital world will play a large part in this.”
