The first half of 2021 in particular was primarily characterized by the fact that youth work was practically impossible due to the various measures. But the municipal association acted innovatively, according to the responsible Deputy Mayor Karin Hörzing (SP). With the mobile use of the youth centers, teen projects in the districts and a wide range of online offers, the young people were offered contact, conversation and leisure opportunities.
On the total of 1747 opening days in the association’s eight youth centers in Linz, an average of 16 young people per day and facility visited in the past year. Overall, the youth and leisure association was in contact with around 46,000 young people. More than 700 clients took advantage of the counseling and crisis talks. In addition to the 38,000 informational meetings, there were more than 25,000 online contacts. 57 employees are available to the young people.
New: Teen Club at Bindermichl
The youth and leisure association is coming up with numerous offers and activities this year. In the spring, the teen club started up again at Bindermichl, which was a reaction to current developments and the need, especially in Bellevue Park. This means that teen work for 8 to 12 year olds can now be intensified there.
Digital youth work will be intensified this year so that young people can easily obtain serious information. In addition, the topics of health literacy and sustainability are given greater prominence.
