AUA European flights: Anyone who wants to change space will have to pay in the future

From June 21, passengers with these tickets can only change seats on Lufthansa and Swiss European flights for a fee of at least 25 euros, according to information on the Lufthansa website. The AUA will follow in autumn. There are only exceptions on flights to Italy if children between the ages of two and twelve or disabled people are accompanied.

The AUA confirmed the change to “Economy Light”, the basic fare of the airlines in the Lufthansa Group on European routes. “In the future, a change fee will be charged for this tariff if passengers want to change the seat automatically assigned at check-in,” said the AUA spokeswoman. The fee is 25 euros or more, depending on the flight route.

After Lufthansa and Swiss came into force on June 21, the AUA will follow suit in the fourth quarter of 2022. “As before, families and groups will not be separated in a joint booking,” emphasized the spokeswoman.

In all other booking classes, reservations remain subject to a fee as before, although there is still the option of switching to seats that are still available free of charge from 23 hours before departure. Free reservations on European flights are only reserved for regular customers in the top classes HON Circle and Senator, who are even allowed to secure seats for up to three companions.
