An “honorary bench” for Franz Burner

It was a big stage that the Urfahr-Surrounding Hunters’ Association offered their outgoing district champion Franz Burner: a full house in the sports hall in Bad Leonfelden, standing ovations when he was named honorary district champion and the presentation of an “honorary banker” for relaxing hours with his wife Veronika .

As a sign of thanks, the hunting horn group “Grenzland” performed the “Urfahraner Jägermarsch” composed by the state horn master Franz Kastenhuber for the first time.

For a quarter of a century, Burner had been at the forefront of the district’s hunting fortunes. First nine years as deputy district hunting master, then 16 years as the highest hunting official in the district. “Franz has done an enormous amount for hunting in our 48 districts. He has also become a close friend whose advice I value very much,” said Burner’s successor Josef Rathgeb, who was elected the new district master hunter with 100 percent approval. First deputy is Günther Kitzmüller from Altenberg, second deputy Norbert Burgstaller from Steyregg. The nature conservation association district chairman and district police commander Erwin Pilgerstorfer is a new member of the hunting management committee.

Franz Weinzierl from Goldwörth was honored for 70 years of hunting. Hubert Pree (Reichenthal), Johann Roither (Herzogsdorf), Erwin Kreindl, August Lehermayr (both Steyregg) and Franz Haslinger (Lichtenberg) were honored for 60 years of hunting.
