Corona: Viennese regulation with special rules in public transport and pharmacies

The relevant announcements were followed today by an ordinance from the mayor, which goes beyond the restrictions decreed by the federal government. According to this, FFP2 masks must be worn in public transport, associated closed stations and in pharmacies in the federal capital until over the summer.

But most of the Corona rules also fall in Vienna. For example, the state government is waiving special measures in retail. In addition, with the amendment to the ordinance, which will be announced during the day, the visitor limit in hospitals and spas will be lifted. What remains there, as well as in old people’s and nursing homes, is a negative PCR test that is no more than 48 hours old as an admission requirement.

On the other hand, the special regulation in Vienna, according to which parents have to wear a mask when picking up their children from kindergartens in closed rooms, will be deleted. There are only two areas that differ from the federal rules. On the one hand, the mask must be worn in all means of mass transport as well as in closed stations, train stations and platforms. On the other hand, it is to be set up in the customer rooms of pharmacies. The same applies to the staff in these two areas if no other suitable protective measures have been established.

In addition to the Vienna rules, there are also the few restrictions contained in the federal ordinance issued yesterday. Specifically, it is a mask requirement in “particularly vulnerable settings” such as hospitals, sanatoriums and other places where health and care services are provided, including doctor’s offices, as well as in old people’s and nursing homes. Even in mobile care, with the exception of the disabled area, the mask requirement remains in place.

Apparently, Vienna is not thinking of further easing over the summer. Because the ordinance, like the federal regulation, is limited to August 23.
