Wallner is facing the questions in the U-Committee today

If Neos and the FPÖ have their way, the subsidies from the non-profit support fund to the Upper Austrian Seniors’ Association should also be an issue in the parliamentary committee of inquiry.

Today’s meeting is about the business association in Vorarlberg, advertisements in its member newspaper and financial support for the state VP. Vorarlberg’s governor Markus Wallner is expecting critical questions from the opposition ranks, and Nina Tomaselli from the Green coalition partner also wants to know “how the big advertising business worked” and “whether there was anything in return for advertisements”. FP parliamentary group leader Christian Hafenecker saw the “conglomerate of facts” against Wallner as “very comprehensive”, for the governor it would be “tight”.

Yesterday it was still unclear how the questioning of the large company auditors who deal with the Vorarlberg case would be carried out. The head of the tax office for large company audits had asked for confidentiality in the survey in a letter to the subcommittee. Hafenecker can imagine this, SPÖ and Greens reacted negatively, Neos parliamentary group leader Stephanie Krisper advocates a decision on a case-by-case basis.

Schelling does not have to pay

There was good news yesterday for ex-Finance Minister Hans Jörg Schelling (VP): The Federal Administrative Court (BVwG) dismissed the summary judgment requested against him for refusal to testify. Schelling had refused to testify when he was questioned about advertisements and studies by the Ministry of Finance. The BVwG decided that he made a possible “criminal prosecution” credible.
