Even the rectorate of the Kepler University (JKU) expressed serious concerns about the draft law for the founding of the new TU. As reported, Governor Thomas Stelzer (VP) wants to see the criticism “as an opportunity” to “bring the new TU to the best possible development”.
Now, “when it’s all or nothing,” SP club chairman Michael Lindner sees the governor as having a duty. “Stelzer and ex-Chancellor Kurz have promised Upper Austria a digital university in the summer of 2020,” says Lindner. “But they haven’t used the past two years enough to take the criticism seriously.” In order to bring critics and those responsible together, Lindner requests a state parliament inquiry with the SP state parliament club: “If we don’t bring in the constructively critical top experts like JKU Rector Meinhard Lukas, then the window for this absolute opportunity of the century could close.”
