Fallen windows: children on the mend

There is good news from two little girls from Upper Austria who fell out of the window at the end of May just a few days apart: they are on the mend again.

The two-year-old who fell 13 meters from her parents’ fourth-floor apartment in the Neue Heimat district of Linz on May 25 has already been transferred to a normal ward in Linz’s Kepler University Hospital (KUK). Neighbors had found the child, who had suffered serious injuries in the accident, lying unconscious on the ground.

A four-year-old girl who fell three days earlier from a window on the first floor of her parents’ house in Neuhofen an der Krems (Linz-Land district) was allowed to leave the KUK and go home again. The seriously injured girl was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

There is still a one and a half year old who fell out of a window of an apartment on the first floor onto an asphalt parking lot on the same day in Baumgartenberg (Perg district) and sustained head injuries.

In all three cases, the children had leaned against insect screens mounted in front of the windows. When they gave way, the accidents happened.
