A 45-year-old from Wels drove his car in Hinzenbach, in the Rudling area, on Tuesday around 4:50 p.m. on the B129 in the direction of Eferding. As he reached for a water bottle on the passenger seat, he pulled into the left lane. He touched the oncoming car, steered by a 55-year-old from the Schärding district. Their car turned 180 degrees and came to a stop on the roadway. The Welser skidded as a result of the collision and crashed into the next oncoming car, driven by a 53-year-old from the Eferding district. As a result, it left the roadway, brushed the embankment and came to a standstill on the left-hand side of the road.
After the collision, the 45-year-old left the road on the right and came to a standstill in the adjacent field. All three drivers involved were injured, the 45-year-old seriously. After emergency medical care, the injured were taken to the Wels Clinic.
