Buses on the staircase path in Urfahr upset residents

Buses parked right next to the cruise ships on the stairway in Urfahr are a nuisance for the residents of Ferihumerstraße. What has caused the displeasure of many residents in the past few days should actually not be.

Because the buses are not allowed to drive in at all, they are only allowed to receive the ship tourists at the information center on the fairgrounds. There are also five bus parking spaces. According to Deputy Mayor Martin Hajart (VP), the fact that they practically drove up to the ships and at the same time obstructed bicycle and pedestrian traffic was only possible because the fence was not put up because of the dismantling work after the Urfahraner fair.

Helge Langer, club chairman of the Green Linz, spoke of an unacceptable approach if “routes heavily frequented by cruise tourism were blocked for the general public”. A solution had to be found in the interest of the residents and the users of the stairway.

Hajart refers to discussions that have already been held with the operator of the shipping pier, which has been pointed out again that the buses are not allowed to drive directly: “The legal situation here is clear.”
