More celebrations will take place over a long weekend until Sunday. In London, for example, a thanksgiving service is planned for Friday and a “Street Pageant”, a kind of street carnival, for Sunday. Street festivals and village festivals also take place across the country. So that people can celebrate their queen properly, there is another holiday once. In addition, pubs are allowed to open much longer.

Elizabeth has been King George VI since the death of her father. Queen of Britain on 6 February 1952. She was crowned on June 2, 1953.

Queen’s grandson Prince Harry also wants to take part in the festival weekend in London with his family. The 37-year-old and his wife Duchess Meghan (40) and their two children Archie (3) and Lilibet will not be seen on the balcony – because they are not “working royals”. They gave up their royal duties when they moved to the United States. However, daughter Lilibet, who is named after the Queen’s nickname, is due to meet her famous great-grandmother for the first time on her first birthday on Saturday.

The second oldest son of Queen Prince Andrew is not there either. He had largely withdrawn from public view because of his involvement in a sex abuse scandal.
