The corona virus caused an enormous amount of work for the Red Cross in the Gmunden district last year. In the seven local offices, employees worked a total of 35,500 hours to deal with the pandemic. The emergency organization supported the authorities with testing and vaccination. 39,000 PCR samples and 90,000 vaccinations were carried out thanks to the organization and support of the Red Cross.
In total, the Red Cross volunteers worked 456,500 hours last year. District office manager Alois Lanz (district governor) and district manager Harald Pretterer presented these figures at this year’s district office meeting.
With 44,258 rescue and patient transports in the district, the numbers were similar to those before the pandemic. The mileage has increased noticeably. A trend that may cause waiting times for non-time-critical transports in the future.
A total of 170,000 orders had to be processed in the previous year, i.e. the equivalent of around 465 orders per day.
