After a forced two-year break, Whitsun spectacle again in Andorf

Next Pentecost weekend it’s finally that time again. After a two-year Corona break, the Andorf Folk Festival and Beautification Association (VVA) is luring the people of the Innviertel and people from neighboring districts back to the Andorf Folk Festival with great program items.

“Since the preparatory work already begins in September for the following year, we unfortunately had to archive two finished programs for the years 2020 and 2021. We are all the more pleased that a folk festival with special highlights is possible again this year,” said VVA chairman Hans Hosner, who is already looking forward to the upcoming Pentecost weekend together with his team.

Premiere for horse train

The brilliant highlight this time will be the presentation of the “1st Pramtaler Tener Train” at the Day of the Horse on Whit Monday, June 6th, from 1 p.m. Christian Ecker from Diersbach, also known as the “Emperor Coachman of Bad Ischl”, will harness ten Norikers to his carriage and direct the 25 meter long team of horses. Another innovation at the Andorfer Volksfest is that the Andorf football club will work with a catering partner to run the festival tent.

Traditionally, the folk festival days begin with a children’s afternoon on Friday, June 3, from 2 p.m., and with a company evening in the marquee with the “Bayernrockern”. On Saturday morning, a classic car meeting will take place on the old sports field in Andorf. Bicycles, tractors, cars, motorcycles, mopeds and stationary engines arrive in the Pramtal community between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and are on display with free admission.

In the afternoon on Saturday, the band “Bluatschink” will give a concert in the pavilion from 2 p.m. “With free admission, numerous visitors and especially families should be addressed,” says Waltraud Desch from the folk festival and beautification association in Andorf.

Pageant and “Pramtal Warrior”

From 6.30 p.m. on Saturday, a procession with Andorf clubs and organizations will be set up at the market town hall and will march into the marquee for the official opening at 7.30 p.m. On Sunday, June 5th, the celebrations start with a regulars’ morning pint in the marquee. From 1 p.m. the “Pramtal Warrior” takes place on the old sports field.

Sunday afternoon is dedicated to music with performances by several choirs in the pavilion from 3 p.m. Whit Monday, June 6th, begins with the Feast of the Cheering Couples. They meet at 9 a.m. in the vicarage and after the festival service we celebrate together in the music pavilion.

From 1 p.m. on the Day of the Horse, breed and breeding presentations with demonstrations and the ascent of the “1st Pramtaler Tener Train” will take place. From 2.30 p.m. there will also be a colliery meeting in the pavilion with folk dancing.
