Because all federal states were switched to green and yellow on Thursday, as was the state as a whole, the responsible commission announced on Thursday evening. In the previous week only Lower Austria, Styria and Vorarlberg had landed in this color mixture. The other federal states have now also improved.
Vienna with the highest value
From a risk number of 25 you have escaped the medium risk and this mark is now being undercut quite significantly everywhere. Styria has the best value with 11.8, Salzburg the worst with 21.3.
As far as the raw number of cases is concerned, i.e. the actual number of infections detected without other parameters such as test frequency, a hurdle was cleared this week according to the document from the responsible commission. Carinthia achieves a value of less than 100. Vienna again has the highest value, but this is also related to the test frequency in the federal capital. Among the districts, Mistelbach has the highest incidence and Voitsberg the lowest.
Tyroleans bring up the rear in testing
In Vienna, almost 32,000 tests were carried out on 100,000 inhabitants, with Tyrol bringing up the rear only over 2,200. However, the Burgenlanders were the most diligent in testing this week with over 39,000 tests out of 100,000. In the case of asymptomatic cases at the time of testing, Vienna is still clearly at the top with 70 percent. In Tyrol it is eight percent. In plain language, this means that tests are only carried out there if an infection is suspected.
Commission optimistic
The Commission’s outlook is reasonably optimistic. Furthermore, downward trends in the incidence of infection and the hospital cover are forecast. The virus variants Omicron BA.4/5, which account for around eight percent of cases, should be carefully observed. According to the Commission, the growth advantage of these variants, which has been observed in other countries, is also confirmed in Austria and is currently estimated at 40 percent. However, international observations have so far not shown any increased virulence of BA.4/5 compared to other omicron subvariants. However, caution should be exercised against jumping to conclusions.
