All exits along the Tauernautobahn (A10) between Puch-Urstein and Zederhaus will therefore be closed from Friday, June 3 to Monday, June 6, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. to relieve the burden on the neighboring communities. The measure is intended to prevent holidaymakers from looking for alternative routes through the towns along the motorway in the event of traffic jams.
Destination traffic is excluded
Destination traffic is exempt from the closures. At the same time, there will be road closures in the Flachgau communities of Grödig, Wals-Siezenheim, Großgmain, Anif and Elsbethen to avoid bypass traffic. The country strongly advises transit holidaymakers not to exit and stay on the highway. “The fastest route to the south is via the A10,” said a broadcast on Thursday. The police will check the departure and transit blocks on the Pentecost weekend.

Driving bans also in Tyrol
Tyrol is taking similar measures that have already been tried and tested: so that people passing through do not leave the motorway in the event of a traffic jam and clog up the low-level road network, so-called exit bans will apply again this summer. The country announced on Monday that it would be from the Pentecost weekend until September.
Destination, source and resident traffic are excluded, it said. The police will check this. The first driving bans – exclusively in the southbound direction – apply at the beginning of the Pentecost weekend, between Friday 3 June at 7 a.m. and Sunday 5 June at 7 p.m.
Specially trained supervisory bodies control
The traffic police entered the driving bans into the traffic information system of the Ministry of the Interior so that they can be displayed digitally to drivers directly on their navigation devices. The police and specially trained road safety officers will also monitor compliance at critical points. For this purpose, the state government took 100,000 euros in hand.
ÖBB increase seats at Pentecost
In order to prevent overcrowded trains around the coming Pentecost weekend, the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) are planning additional connections and reinforcing existing trains. The number of seats will be increased by more than 13,000, especially on the heavily frequented routes of the western and southern railways, it said on Tuesday. However, the ÖBB recommends “urgently reserving seats” and also using the additional booster trains.
