The question to which Rudi Carrell has been searching for a musical answer for 47 years now no longer needs to be asked. Already on Friday it was “really summer again” all over Upper Austria. The temperatures reached more than 28 degrees, the streets of the city were hot, and many managed to escape to the bathing lakes. Also on the Pentecost weekend it will be a wonderful break for everyone who “likes it very warm and sunny”, says Claudia Riedl, meteorologist at the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG).
“Could get awkward”
One catchphrase applies to today’s Saturday: bathing weather. The temperatures reach 28 degrees again, in the afternoon cumulus clouds form over the mountains. Thunderstorms are to be planned there, but they are not certain. “Anyone who goes to the mountains should definitely get there early. Not just because of the heat,” says Riedl. There is no certainty about thunderstorms until Sunday. This bright sunny summer day, on which the temperatures even rise to around 30 degrees, shouldn’t be praised before the evening, because according to Riedl it could get “really uncomfortable” after 7 p.m. A cold front is advancing and pushing its way over Upper Austria in the evening. “It’s a decent front with all the trimmings. There’s definitely a risk of severe weather,” says the meteorologist.

Although the cold front did not come to stay, it will also accompany Upper Austria on Monday morning. “It will rain during the night, and the clouds will only slowly break up in the morning,” says Riedl. For those who appreciate summer, the holiday afternoon lives up to its name: at around 25 degrees it will still be very sunny.
“Unstable weather conditions”
For the whole of next week you can count on the weather remaining unreliable. “In any case, the daily rain shower is there,” says the meteorologist. Although the temperatures remain high, cumulus clouds keep piling up over the mountains, and thunderstorms can never be completely ruled out, even in the lowlands.
