Anna Maier is still dripping water from her hair onto her shoulders. Was it good? “Wonderful! Even necessary, I would say. The temperature is super comfortable,” replies the 31-year-old from Linz.
She has just had a swim in the Danube. For the first time this year, there will be a “Splash and Chill” zone at the Bubble Days in the port of Linz. In a small, delimited area, visitors can take a dip in the harbor basin, well looked after by the volunteers from the Traun water rescue service.
And that was probably more than welcome to many yesterday afternoon. At 28 degrees and sunshine, numerous people from all over Upper Austria were drawn to the festival site on the banks of the Danube in Linz. After the two-year Corona break, they were awaited there by numerous activities, performances by bands and DJs as well as culinary temptations. And even today there is a rich program in and around the harbor basin.
Sports Trial Program
Daniel Fetz, known as “Fetzy”, can help those who find bathing in the Danube too boring. The wakeboard world champion from Steyregg offers coaching. While the visitors do a few laps through the harbor basin, he gives tips and suggestions for improvement via radio helmet. And particularly die-hards can be introduced to ice bathing by Fetzy during a workshop (pre-registration at: 0660/9060960). There are also try-out courses for the trendy sports of wing surfing and stand-up paddling.
Those who prefer to sit and watch with small meals while others work themselves out are also well catered for: Numerous food trucks, beverage stands and even five award-winning chefs serve delicacies for every taste throughout the day.
In any case, visitors can “only” watch the “Swoop Challenge”. In swooping, athletes have to deploy a parachute just above the water after a plane jump and then glide through a course above the water surface. The Red Bull Skydiving Team will be showing their skills at several performances in the Linz harbor today.
As early as 12 noon, cult singer Austrofred gets the audience excited at the harbor morning pint. Later in the evening the main musical program starts: at 7 p.m. singer MIBLU opens the program on the main stage, followed by Kerosin 95, Eli Preiss and Mavi Phoenix. From 11 p.m. DJ Dan from the Linz hip-hop band Texta takes over at the mixing desk and closes the evening. And also on the Electronic Stage, four DJs deliver music with booming bass from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
