Severe weather front crossed Vorarlberg

In Schruns, scaffolding collapsed on the construction site of a hotel on Silvrettastrasse because of the storm. In addition, insulating facade panels were blown away by the strong wind. The tower crane erected there was shaken by the strong storm and the jib slewed back and forth. Due to concerns that the construction crane could fall over, Silvrettastrasse was temporarily closed to all traffic for 30 minutes. After the storm subsided, the security lockdown on Silvrettastrasse was lifted. The local fire brigade was deployed with 30 men and three vehicles.

In chagguns the tin roof and parts of the wooden substructure and the chimney of an apartment building were removed by the storm. The Tschagguns and St. Gallenkirch volunteer fire brigades were deployed with 21 men, three vehicles and the turntable ladder. They were supported by the Schruns/Tschagguns mountain rescue service with eight men and one vehicle and the Schruns police. At the Rasafei Bridge in Tschagguns, a tree fell onto the road and blocked it. Eight firefighters remove the obstacle.

In the neighboring Switzerland There were also injuries due to the storm: In the canton of Valais, three people were injured – two of them because a tent set up at a football tournament flew away and hit the people, as the Valais canton police said at the request of Keystone-SDA. In addition, roofs were blown away and scaffolding collapsed.
