The 21-year-old from the Braunau district drove around 10:30 p.m. with his e-scooter on the footpath and cycle path along the B141 from the village of Imolkam in the direction of Polling. At the same time, his 23-year-old friend drove his car from a company premises, where the two had celebrated and drunk alcohol, to the younger man’s home address. In the municipality of Polling, the 21-year-old fell and was seriously injured. He was able to use his mobile phone to call a friend nearby for help.
Since he did not show up at the agreed meeting point, the 23-year-old drove back to look for his friend. He finally noticed the lights on the e-scooter on the bike path and found the seriously injured 21-year-old lying on the ground. The friend who had been alerted by the accident and his wife also came to the scene of the accident and informed the emergency services.
The 21-year-old was taken to the Ried im Innkreis hospital after emergency medical care. An alcohol test was positive for him with 2.02 per mille.
