Tourist Trophy: Third death in a week

Ironically, at his 80th Tourist Trophy start, Davy Morgan had a fatal accident on Monday. The 52-year-old Northern Irishman had a serious fall near the 27th milestone. Morgan was considered one of the most experienced pilots in the field.

Morgan is the third fatality in this year’s Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man. Last Wednesday, Welshman Mark Purslow (29) had an accident in training at the notorious Ballagarey curve at 200 kilometers per hour. The next tragedy followed three days later with the French sidecar co-driver Olivier Lavorel.

Since the Tourist Trophy was first held in 1907, 263 drivers have lost their lives.
