A 31-year-old Romanian from the Perg district drove a truck in Steyregg towards the junction with the B3, Donau Straße, at around 8.15 a.m. He wanted to turn left onto the B3 towards Linz. At the same time, a 57-year-old from the Rohrbach district was driving a small truck on the B3 coming from Linz in the direction of Mauthausen. The two vehicles collided at the intersection.
The three occupants of the small truck, the 57-year-old driver, a 23-year-old and a 71-year-old were seriously injured. The two passengers were trapped in the vehicle and had to be rescued from the totally damaged vehicle by the fire brigade. The seriously injured were treated medically by the emergency doctors from the NEF (emergency doctor vehicle) or the rescue helicopter, as well as by three teams from the Red Cross and then taken to the Kepler University Hospital.
