Fire in apartment building: residents saved themselves via ladder

The 26-year-old owner of the apartment on the first floor of the apartment building noticed the fire around noon and tried to extinguish the flames with a blanket, but failed due to the massive smoke development. He fled into another room and escaped to the outside through a window and a ladder.

In the meantime, the fire spread to all apartments and floors. Seven fire brigades from the area moved in with lifting platforms and turntable ladders, alarm level two was declared. 19 fire engines and around 90 men were on site. Firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring homes.

Massive property damage

Everyone was able to leave the house on their own, and a dog was also rescued. For two rabbits and a cat, however, any help came too late. There was massive damage to the building. The exact cause of the fire is still the subject of further investigations, the police said in the afternoon.
