Infidelity and animal cruelty? House search at a Styrian animal shelter

Hansjörg Bacher from the public prosecutor’s office in Graz confirmed media reports that there were suspicions of infidelity, animal cruelty and coercion. The state of Styria had been informed about the potentially criminally relevant events and the responsible specialist department finally called in the public prosecutor’s office.

Specifically, the chairman of the association and head of the animal shelter, his wife, who runs the veterinary clinic, and another involved veterinarian are being investigated. The club and veterinary clinic are also being investigated. According to Bacher, the allegation of animal cruelty is, among other things, about the fact that various interventions on pets may not have been medically necessary.

In the case of infidelity, very high veterinary costs are under scrutiny. And the coercion is about whether the boss could possibly have urged his employees to get a corona vaccination, Bacher explained.
