In autumn of this year, the Linz Design Center will once again be the scene of “WeFair”, which took place for the first time 14 years ago (back then under the name “WearFair”) in the state capital. From October 7th to 9th, the sustainability fair will focus on ideas, products and services for sustainable coexistence.
In order to sensitize young people to the topic of sustainability, there will be a focus week at schools in Linz before the “WeFair”. Under the title “WeFair Goes to School”, interested schools can enjoy free workshops, lectures or a personal meeting with the Austrian influencer Jana Kaspar, who as “JANAklar” makes sustainability and minimalism the central focus of her activities.
From October 3rd to 6th, experts from the supporting organizations of “WeFair” (Südwind, Global 2000 and Klimabündnis) will offer schools workshops on various sustainability topics. Schools and classes in Linz can now register for one or more of a total of nine different workshops.
The topics range from the origin of jeans and mobile phones to the ecological footprint and the city of the future. The workshops last two to four teaching units, are suitable for children from the age of nine and are free thanks to funding from the City of Linz’s climate fund. The funding was decided unanimously in the Linz municipal council.
City climate coordinator Oliver Schrot is convinced that students who enjoy such educational opportunities have a positive effect on their family environment and pass on the new knowledge they have acquired to friends.
200 exhibitors
The “WeFair” presents twice a year – in autumn in Linz and in spring 2023 for the first time in Vienna – up to 200 regional, national and international exhibitors from the fields of fashion, nutrition and lifestyle with their developments and offers for more sustainability in life together .
