About care apps and wheelchairs that grow with you

The Integra trade fair presented by the OÖN, which takes place in Wels from today, Wednesday (9 a.m.) to Friday, shows new ways and possibilities in the areas of rehabilitation, therapy, care, accessibility, mobility and travel. It is the ideal opportunity for nurses and caregivers to find out about the latest developments. “Research and development is not just a question of engineering and technology, but also of society,” says VP Social Affairs Minister Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer. “Especially in nursing and care, we will have to ask ourselves these questions.”

Robot has already been tested

Technical innovations are accordingly a focus of the fair. For example, a robot that plays, sings and tells jokes with elderly people is presented. This robot has already been used as a test in the nursing home in Wolfern and will soon be used there as part of a pilot project. Memory training for dementia prevention and dementia therapy called Memocorby will also be presented. This is a digital, multi-sensory therapy tool for relearning speech after a stroke and for memory training. In addition, new orthosis systems and a wide variety of apps, such as those from the Regau company Lica Life Care, with which care and support services can be documented, will be shown.

Another focus is on training. “We offer 25 workshops and 30 lectures from a wide variety of areas,” says trade fair director Robert Schneider.

In Wels not only theory, but also a lot of practice is offered to the visitors. Walking aids and wheelchairs can be tried out on a separate course. This also applies to children, for whom the company Orthotechnik from Sattledt presents a wide range: from wheelchairs that grow with the child to off-road buggies, walking and sitting aids, therapy bikes and care beds. There is also a small kindergarten, which is looked after by students studying occupational therapy at the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions.

A total of 200 exhibitors are represented, according to trade fair manager Petra Leingartner: “Due to the demographic development alone, the topic of care is becoming more and more important. This makes this trade fair, which is the only trade fair in Austria, all the more important.”
