Wacker Neuson expands in Hörsching

The Munich construction machinery manufacturer Wacker Neuson is pursuing big plans at its Hörschingen site: At the end of March, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for an eight-hectare test track for excavators and dumpers, which is to be completed in the summer and put into operation in the autumn. The company announced this yesterday, Tuesday, by broadcast.

Wacker Neuson has been based in Hörschinger Flughafenstrasse for ten years. The production volume and the number of employees have since doubled, they say. There are currently five assembly lines, a factory building, an assembly hall and a paint shop on a 17-hectare site.

The previous test track was not in the immediate vicinity and was not owned by Wacker Neuson. That will now change with the investment, for which the company did not name an investment amount on request.

The location near the factory is to be used for noise measurements and machine tests, including in the areas of alternative drives and autonomous driving, says Stefan Bogner, spokesman for the management at Wacker Neuson Linz with 1100 employees. 100 more will be sought by the end of the year.

In addition to a noise measuring station, a circuit with inclines, a steering course, a rough road test area, a material depot and a test area for autonomous driving are planned.
