Since March, Franco Foda has no longer been team boss of the Austrian national soccer team. “There were already a few interesting offers, but ultimately the overall package has to fit so that I decide on a team,” the German recently said to the “Kleine Zeitung”.
Now the 56-year-old should have made his decision. As Swiss media reports, Foda will be the new coach of FC Zurich. At the Swiss champions he is to succeed Andre Breitenreiter, who is taking over TSG Hoffenheim. Zurich won the league with a 14-point lead over Basel. The club will start the new season in the second round of Champions League qualification.
Foda knows the Swiss league from his active days. In the 1996/97 season he defended for FC Basel.
