Toni Polster on the hole in the lawn: Herzog dived into it during difficult games

The hole in the lawn of Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, which appeared during Austria’s 1-2 draw against Denmark, not only produced astonished faces, but also a few smiles. Austrian soccer legends Toni Polster and Andreas Herzog are responsible for the latter. They took the half a meter deep hole as an opportunity to tease each other on social media.

The template was provided by Herzog, who posted a photo (see above) of himself and Polster in the ÖFB training on Instagram – with the comment: “The hole in the Happelstadion has been there for 30 years, our Toni double pack fell down with his during training pointy knees.”

The abusive revenge foul of Polster was not long in coming. “This hole has actually been there for 30 years. Andi Herzog dived into this hole every time he played difficult games,” said Austria’s record scorer in an Instagram video (see below).
