The Austrian Association of Cities will hold its City Day in Bad Ischl next year. More than 1000 guests from Germany and abroad are expected from May 31 to June 2, 2023, including members of the government, numerous city leaders and other high-ranking political representatives. Traditionally, the Federal President opens the event, and numerous members of the government engage in discussions with local politicians over the course of the day.
“The award is an honor and a distinction for us,” said Bad Ischl Mayor Ines Schiller (SPÖ). “So far, larger cities have always been the venues for the meeting.” Bad Ischl will also use the City Day to present the Capital of Culture region and their common goals to the participants. “We will show how cities, communities and a region can develop through culture,” says Schiller.
Tourism in Bad Ischl can also be satisfied. The City Day not only draws the city’s attention. It will also provide the region with more than 2000 additional overnight stays.
This year the City Day took place in Villach. There Mayoress Schiller was already officially handed over the flag of the Austrian Association of Cities by the President of the Association of Cities Michael Ludwig, Villach’s Mayor Günther Albel and Secretary General Thomas Weninger.
The Austrian Association of Cities represents the interests of the country’s cities. Vienna’s Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) is President of the Association of Cities.
