In an expected second round between the two, Lula has increased his advantage to 22 percentage points and would win the elections with 54% compared to 32% for Bolsonaro, according to the poll.
Other recent polls show that Lula maintains a solid lead in the first round and would comfortably win the election in the second, with up to 25 percentage points in the May Datafolha poll and 10 points in the latest PoderData poll.
Analysts have said that Bolsonaro’s questioning of Brazil’s electronic voting system and clashes with the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and the Superior Electoral Court could be costing him the support of moderate Brazilians.
Lula’s lead over Bolsonaro narrowed slightly in some polls in May, but he has quickly regained voter support.
The Genial/Quaest poll also showed that the negative view of the Bolsonaro government stands at 47%, compared to 46% in May, while the percentage of those who view it positively remained at 25%.
The Quaest pollster interviewed 2,000 voters in person between June 2 and 5. The poll has a margin of error of 2 percentage points up or down.
