Temperatures should rise again and reach summery levels, as forecast by meteorologists from the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) on Thursday. Daily highs of up to 29 degrees are expected.
On Friday, the influence of the disturbance will only slowly subside and therefore rain at times must still be expected, especially on the north side of the Alps; further north and also in the east, only occasional rain showers are to be expected. South of the main ridge of the Alps, but also in the extreme west, it remains largely dry and the sun has often been there for a long time. In the afternoon, the clouds in the north and east will also slowly loosen up. The wind blows strongly on the eastern edge of the Alps and in the mountains, otherwise only weak to moderate from west to north. The morning temperatures are between nine and 17 degrees, the maximum daily temperatures will hardly reach more than 15 degrees if it rains for a long time, otherwise up to 24 degrees.
Mostly dry on Saturday
Saturday begins very sunny and in the west and south it stays that way all day. In the north and east there are also occasional dense cloud fields during the day, but it remains largely dry. The wind will be weak to moderate, on the eastern edge of the Alps also brisk from north-west to north. The morning temperatures are nine to 16 degrees, during the day the thermometer climbs to 23 to 27 degrees.
In the western half of the country, Sunday will be sunny and rain-free, and the sky will often be cloudless. In the eastern half, after a likewise sunny start, there will be denser cloud fields during the day, around noon a few raindrops are not excluded here on the north side of the Alps. The wind will be weak to moderate from west to northwest. Between 10 and 16 degrees are expected in the morning and between 25 and 29 degrees during the day.
Situation calmed down on Tuesday
In the coming week, the air pressure will decrease at all altitudes on Monday, and a fault zone will reach Austria from the north-west. From the morning hours onwards there will be rain showers and thunderstorms from the Tyrolean Unterland to western Lower Austria. In the south and south-east it is initially sunny, before the chance of thunderstorms increases significantly from midday and lasts into the evening hours. The wind blows moderately from the north-west and freshens up briskly with the passage of disturbances. The morning temperatures will be between eleven and 17 degrees, the maximum daily temperatures between 23 and 29 degrees.
On Tuesday, the air pressure on the ground will rise again significantly from the west, so the weather situation will calm down again. In high layers, the influence of low pressure over the eastern Alps remains effective in the weather. This causes flat heaps of clouds, mostly without precipitation, especially in the eastern half. On the southern side of the Alps, the likelihood of thunderstorms and showers will increase from the morning, but in the meantime the sun will also come into its own here in phases. Mostly moderate wind blows from west to north. The early temperatures are between ten to 15 degrees, the maximum daily temperatures of up to 27 degrees are forecast.
