Gmundner Musical makes a guest appearance in Germany

The Gmunden musical spring is actually over after eleven sold-out performances of “The White Woman”. But not for the artists around Markus Olzinger and Elisabeth Sikora: From June 18, the Gmundner in-house production will be performed ten times in the Stadttheater Fürth. “Up until now we had hesitated to show our productions at other locations, since we have a very strong national audience in Gmunden,” says Artistic Director Markus Olzinger. “But we couldn’t refuse the request from Fürth.”

In fact, the musical spring attracts an international audience to Lake Traunsee every year. Some fans from Germany who came to Gmunden this year have already secured tickets in the Franconian city. “Some of them watch every single performance and have seen the play more than ten times in this production,” explains Olzinger.

The region should also benefit from the success of the Gmunden musical production. When the musical team makes its way to Fürth, it also has advertising brochures for Lake Traunsee tourism in its suitcase to whet the appetite of the German musical audience for a holiday in the Salzkammergut.

Meanwhile, the internationalization of the Gmundner Musical Spring will continue next year. In 2023, ‘Letters from Ruth’ will have a world premiere in cooperation with the New York Opera Society in NY/ Washington.
