Whether Christoph Keplinger, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, Wifo boss Gabriel Felbermayr, Gernot Grömer, Director of the Austrian Space Forum, Johanna Rachinger, Director General of the National Library, or JKU Rector Meinhard Lukas: they are all members of the “Future Panel Upper Austria” – a group of 31 experts who represent the Oö. advise future academy.
“Broad look into the future”
The committee met for the first time yesterday at the Ars Electronica Center. This group of experts will meet regularly up to 2027 to develop proposed solutions for politics. “The challenges of our time require a broad view of the future,” said Governor Thomas Stelzer (VP). The think tank should help the country and give impetus “to be able to set the right course even in times of upheaval”.
Several transformations are important: Climate change makes a transformation of the energy system necessary. Migration and aging would also need a “social transformation”. Education and care systems would also have to be redesigned.
