The man was noticed by the officials around 9 p.m. on the B1 in the Linz-Land district after he had let the powerful engine of his car roar and then accelerated the car sharply. When the police tried to stop the 36-year-old at the Trauner crossing, he stepped on the gas and fled from the patrol car with daring maneuvers at a much higher speed. He repeatedly drove too close to cars driving in front of him and endangered other road users.
At the intersection of the B1 and Bäckerfeldstraße, the officers were finally able to stop the man. However, he vehemently refused to turn off the engine and get out. “Because further dangers had to be feared because of his behavior, he had to be brought out of the vehicle with physical strength,” the police reported.
License plate and registration certificate removed
The 36-year-old’s partner and two children aged four and nine had to watch as the driver was dragged out of the car while he verbally abused the officers. After repeated warnings, he was briefly arrested for his aggressive behavior.
The 36-year-old was reported to the Linz public prosecutor’s office for endangering physical safety and to the Linz-Land district authority for a total of 37 traffic violations. The license plate and registration certificate were taken from him, the police said on Saturday morning.
