They were trapped by the flames: an 80-year-old in need of care and her caregiver could neither go forward nor back in a burning house on Friday evening. Around 10:30 p.m., the nurse noticed the heavy smoke development on the ground floor and informed the emergency services.
60 forces from three fire brigades from the area moved in. In order to free the two women from the house, they had to break a window. The 62-year-old caregiver and the elderly homeowner suffered unspecified injuries. They were taken to the hospital in Wels. Two comrades also suffered minor injuries during the firefighting effort.
The cause of the fire is just as uncertain as the amount of damage caused. A fire expert was requested to clarify the cause, and the investigation is still ongoing, the police said on Saturday morning.
