The daily number of new infections is increasing, while the proportion of people who are considered fully immunized according to the vaccination certificate is shrinking.
533 new corona cases were counted in Upper Austria yesterday – seven days earlier there had been only 247. On the other hand, the number of those who are no longer immunized increased by 693 people to 143,530 Upper Austrians from Saturday to Sunday alone – that is around ten percent of the total population. According to AGES, 59 percent of Upper Austrians have a valid vaccination certificate. This rate is higher in all other federal states: in Salzburg, for example, it is 59.4 percent, in Styria 64.6 percent, and in Lower Austria 66.6 percent. Burgenland is in first place with 70.8 percent.

“At the moment, it is mainly those compatriots who have not yet received a third vaccination who are losing their valid vaccination status,” said a spokeswoman for the state crisis team when asked by OÖN. A third stitch is “available at any time”.
In the past week there were only 1724 people in Upper Austria who got their third stitch. In the week before it had been 5854.
Although the vaccination status in the Green Passport is currently of little importance because there are almost no access restrictions, this is likely to change again in the foreseeable future by late summer or autumn. As reported, recoveries are no longer considered an “immunological event” like vaccinations, only three vaccinations result in full immunization, but there is a general transition period until August 23rd. After that, vaccination certificates that were valid until then, which also record recoveries, should lose their validity.

A booster vaccination, i.e. the fourth stitch, is currently only recommended for people aged 80 and over (six months after the third vaccination), but is considered “off label”. The fourth vaccination is currently not recommended for healthy people up to the age of 64.
Nationwide, 2989 new infections have been confirmed since Saturday. According to the authorities, three other people died in connection with Covid-19.
In Upper Austria, an 81-year-old patient from the Linz-Land district died in the Linz accident hospital.
