The authorities confirmed to the media that Mayimbú was in the village (neighborhood) Santa Bárbara (southeast), inside a house guarded by members of the security forces of the dissidents.
Mayimbú was one of the important members for the criminal organization that operates in Cauca and vital for the drug trafficking business in the region, according to the Government.
There he found a propitious place to design the illegal corridors with which he took drugs to the Colombian Pacific.
“This is an operation that shows that the symbols of evil continue to fall wherever they are found. They will have no hiding place, they will have no refuge,” Duque said in a statement at the presidential headquarters in the company of the military leadership.
The dissidents under the command of Gentil Duarte, to which ‘Mayimbú’ belonged, were one of the two factions of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) that departed from a peace agreement signed in 2016 to end a conflict of more than half a century that has left 260,000 dead and millions displaced.
