Music, theater and culinary delights: there’s something going on again in the Innviertel and the event calendar is packed to the brim. We have summarized a selection of events for you below.

Medieval market and more

Culinary delicacies on the Braunau town square, a medieval market in the old town, live music, a party area and family-friendly activities: This year, for the first time, a town festival will be held, organized by the “Braunau Aktiv” association. For two days, on July 1st and 2nd, there will be celebrations in downtown Braunau. The motto is 100 percent regional, because the organizers have brought local providers on board for every item on the program. This also applies to the show acts on the two stages. Boxing will also take place again: the Innviertler boxing championship in various classes will take place on July 2nd. Admission to the festival is free.

A special town festival will also take place in Mattighofen on June 25th. At the invitation of the Lions
clubs Mattigtal, a soapbox and bobby car race is organised. There is also a colorful children’s program, a vintage car exhibition, live music and of course lots of culinary delights.

NYC Music Marathon

Mattighofen This year’s NYC music marathon in Mattighofen promises proven, new and creative things. It is taking place for the eleventh time and this year, in addition to the exhibition “architektur zeit raum 2010 bis 2020”, it also has a panel discussion with illustrious guests and lots of music to offer.

Kai Strauss & the Electric Blues Allstars will be heard in the Voglpark. You are considered one of the most successful European blues musicians. The Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra presents its latest program with London composer Ed Puddick. German singer-songwriter Stefanie Bolz and Christian Wegscheider will also perform, and of course Chanda Rule will be there as the frontwoman of the Sweet Emma Band. A free family music day with play stations and a hands-on concert as well as music workshops for jazz and popular music and jam sessions complete the program.

Cultural summer at the church square

The city center becomes an open-air stage again: the Braunau cultural summer returns to the city center with the slogan “Peace, joy, pancakes”. The play Lysistrata and the family theater production “The Canterville Ghost” are at the top of the cultural summer program this year. A total of 24 events this year. The centerpiece is the ancient work of the Greek comedy poet Aristophanes, who dealt with social problems and typical gender
clichés and stereotypes addressed. The premiere will be celebrated on July 8th at 8 p.m.

The family theater for everyone from the age of six celebrates its premiere on July 16th. On July 30th you are invited to a concert evening. This year we are also working together with the youth forum Y4U, which on July 16 will roll out a lawn on the upper town square and make room for street art.

City festival for young and old in Ried

“Da gemma hin” is the motto from Friday, July 22nd to Sunday, July 24th in Ried. After two years with a restricted program, the Rieder Stadtmarketing is again offering a city festival for everyone with lots of live music and a varied program for young and old.
It starts on Friday at 4 p.m. with the “Festival of Encounters”, a musical and culinary event

Meeting of the most diverse cultures in the Rieder center. Young visitors can have fun with the children’s program, including carousel and bouncy castle, on the upper main square. Rhythm and rhymes await young people at the Roßmarkt at the same time. The live concerts by the bands “Rockstory” at 7.30 p.m. on the main square and then at 9.30 p.m. by “Yet Another Floyd” at the KiK KulturBühne at the Neptunbrunnen will offer something musical on two large stages.

On Saturday it’s not only about being there, but also trying out. From the early afternoon, (sports) clubs present themselves and invite you to take part. In the morning there is something for the little ones on the main square from 9 a.m., including a children’s theater at 9.30 a.m. From 6 p.m. this year, the athletes’ gala will be held publicly on the main square for the first time, before the day ends with a concert by the brass band “Karambolage”. At the end of the town festival on Sunday at 9.30 a.m. there will be a field mass in the middle of the main square, followed by a morning pint.

Three stages in the middle of Ried

More than 25 acts bring musical variety to Ried on four days on three stages. It starts today, Wednesday, June 15, at 6 p.m. The main stage is located in the middle of the countryside in the city center (entrance Mühlbachgasse). Well-known acts such as Erwin & Edwin, FRINC, Junger and Ernst Molden & Nino from Vienna play there. On Corpus Christi, June 16th, there will be a benefit concert with the Royal Sound Big Band in the afternoon to raise funds for Ukraine, before guests can enjoy an entertaining evening at cabaret with Mike Supancic in Ried.

In addition to the program on the main stage, there will be a mobile pop-up stage for the first time, which will stop at various locations in Ried and put young, regional bands in the limelight. With free admission, visitors can experience bands such as Miss Peter, Tweed and Jules live.

Culinary trip around the world in Schärding

After a two-year break due to corona, the popular festival for young and old is taking place again this year in the baroque city. On the first holiday weekend – from Friday, July 8th to Sunday, July 10th, Schärdinger city center is transformed into a culinary paradise every evening.

The Schärdinger Aktiwirte serve culinary specialties from all over the world on the town square, in the old town and in the Schlossgasse from 5 p.m. This year marks the 15th edition of this special festival that attracts gourmets from near and far to the Innviertel. For three evenings, visitors can feast their way through cuisines from around the world – from Mexican tacos and Indian curries to French crêpes and specialties from the Innviertel.

Jazz music on the farm

For three days, the small community of Diersbach im Sauwald is once again the Mecca for all jazz fans. At the court of the musician Paul Zauner, who is well-known far beyond the Innviertel, the INNtöne Festival will take place again this year. It starts on Friday, July 22nd at 7 p.m. with the concerts of “Tuba Skinny”, “Samara Joy 22” and “Hermeto Pascoal & Grupo”.

On the two following festival days – Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th July – visitors to Diersbach can look forward to the finest live music from noon onwards. Among others, the Christoph Pepe Auer Quartet and the Richard Bona & Alfredo Rodriguez Trio will be performing live this year. On Sunday, the “Jonathan Kreisberg Trio” and “Manhattan Transfer” will play an open-air concert in the idyllic ambience of the Sauwald forest.

Free Tree Festival in the forest

The largest alternative music festival in Upper Austria is also a fixed point in the event sky this summer. From August 12th to 15th, music, culture and fun for the whole family will come together in the middle of nature in Taiskirchen.

For the ninth edition, the culture association “Kraut&Ruam” worked at full speed on a varied entertainment program. Over 120 acts, consisting of national and international bands, a varied cultural program as well as various workshops and a children’s program await the visitors.

Guests on the main stage this year include Granada, Mavi Phoenix, Sharktank, Kaltenkirchen, Florence Arman and Fainschmitz. Other top acts offer a diverse program on the electro and hip-hop stage. Fans of the culture stage can look forward to guests like Stefanie Sargnagel.
