Vandals, who are still unknown at the moment, removed a traffic sign at Vorderer Langbathsee in the municipality of Ebensee, which prohibits the parking of mobile homes and camper vans between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. The dismantled traffic sign has now been found in a meadow.
The result of this brazen action was not long in coming: camping vehicles parked around the clock and the resulting overflowing garbage containers with waste of all kinds, packaging material, empty glass containers – but also with old blankets, curtains and other junk that had become useless.
The two Langbathseen are known to be among the most attractive spots in the country – which are also a nature reserve and a sensitive region that requires special consideration and respectful use, which every visitor should be aware of. Camping at Langbathsee around the clock is prohibited. Simple, understandable reason: because there is no infrastructure in the nature reserve. Camping vehicles can only be parked at night in a designated Steiner family space for a small fee.
The Langbathsee is a nature reserve and not a rubbish dump. The Ebensee waste collection center is located on Alte Traunstraße and is open every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Mayor Sabine Promberger: “Many people enjoy the nature, the lake and the wonderful panorama at Langbathsee. It is incomprehensible that this beautiful piece of Ebensee is misused by some people as a garbage dump. We also have a responsibility for the next generations, this wonderful to keep a piece of home intact.” (Hörm./gs)
