The mega-event, for which the OÖ Nachrichten took over the media partnership, is also the highlight of this year’s 800-year celebrations in the city of Wels.
While companies, clubs and educational institutions have set up their stands and attractions on Ringstrasse and Stadtplatz, Kaiser-Josef-Platz belongs to everyday heroes on Friday and Saturday. Especially in the times of the pandemic, we all became aware of how important the organizations, which are largely based on the voluntary nature of citizens, are. In order to put them in the limelight, a separate stage was created on Kaiser-Josef-Platz.
Police. The executive is represented at the city festival with information and hands-on stands. You can find out what aspiring police officers have to do in order to pass in the individual test sequences of the sports entrance exam. Meanwhile, the children’s police look forward to little visitors and perhaps future police officers. On Friday, the police service dogs will present their skills.
Red Cross. Seeing an ambulance from the inside and experiencing up close how Wels paramedics perform their life-saving service is presented at the Red Cross stand. You can also learn what a Red Cross Segway looks like and the purpose of these emergency vehicles.
Fire department. The fact that the fire brigade not only puts out fires, but also has many other tasks in our society, can be seen at many hands-on stations.
ÖAMTC. With an event trailer and the bike simulator, the ÖAMTC attracts interested parties to the KJ. In addition, experts advise visitors on all questions relating to mobility.
army. Because the weight of the battle tank on display could blow up the ceiling of the KJ underground car park, the army’s stand is not to be found next to the emergency services, but on the town square near the town parish church. On the one hand, visitors are made familiar with military technology, on the other hand, they are informed about job and career opportunities in the army.
Bikers against Child Abuse. The club of daring motorcycle fans, BACA for short, was created to create a safe environment for children who have been victims of violence. “We want to give children the strength to live in this world without fear,” emphasizes the BACA association board.
In addition to the bikers and the emergency organizations, the Ladys Circle service club, the “Water for Rui Barbosa” development aid association, the Wels welfare organization and the SATAO association, which works to protect elephants, will also be present. (fam)
