The responsible task force, led by the Directorate for State Security and Intelligence (DSN), had done “highly professional and meticulous investigative work,” Interior Minister Gerhard Karner was pleased to say in a broadcast on Sunday.
The task force’s balance sheet so far shows the blocking of several properties in the land register in the tens of millions and the prevention of attempts to import and export goods that are relevant to the Russian Federation.
“Consistent and with full hardness”
“We are acting consistently and with the full force of the sanctions,” said Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer, commenting on the task force’s balance sheet. “Anyone who supports President Putin and his war against Ukraine – or even benefits from it – will also have to live relentlessly with the full severity of the sanctions.”
Since February 2022, the European Union passed several packages of sanctions due to the Russian attack on Ukraine. According to the Ministry of the Interior, 1,175 people and 101 organizations in the Russian Federation have been sanctioned at European level, assets worth 10 billion euros have been confiscated and transactions worth 196 billion euros have been blocked.
