Regauer forest manager Baumgartinger was voted champion of the year

The 27-year-old Martin Baumgartinger from Regau was voted champion of the year by a specialist jury. The forestry master has become self-employed with the milling of logs and the production of products made of solid wood for outdoor use.

Baumgartinger graduated from the agricultural college in Altmünster and added a forestry apprenticeship to it. In 2017 he invested in a circular milling machine and became self-employed. At first he only processed the sanding wood from his parents’ business. The great demand for round wood for pegs and swing frames soon made it necessary to purchase additional wood. From 2017 to 2020 he completed his training as a master agricultural craftsman. Finally, he did the training to become a master forester.

His goal is to continue to run the business on a full-time basis, to increase production, but still to focus more on sustainability. In his free time, Baumgartinger spends as much time as possible with his family, where he wants to get his three-year-old son interested in agriculture and forestry. He is also involved in community politics.

The District Chamber of Farmers Gmunden-Vöcklabruck and the Club of Agricultural Masters Vöcklabruck congratulated the champion of the year.
