84 Upper Austrians in the hospital, two of them in intensive care

The summer corona wave that has piled up in Austria is getting higher and higher: in the past 24 hours, 7093 new corona infections have been recorded nationwide, as the Ministry of Health and the Interior Ministry reported yesterday. For comparison: Last Sunday there were 6406 new cases.

The increasing number of infections is slowly making itself felt in the hospitals: Yesterday, 686 Covid patients were treated across Austria, 143 more than a week ago. 46 people were treated in intensive care: eleven more than seven days ago.

Maximum values ​​in Vienna

The federal state with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Vienna with 1012.3, followed by Lower Austria, Burgenland and Salzburg (742.5, 631 and 572.6 respectively).

In Upper Austria, 1184 new infections were counted on Saturday, yesterday there were 896 – less than on Sunday seven days ago with 958 new cases. Much more testing was done this weekend than a week earlier. At that time, the state crisis team reported 1,426 PCR tests carried out, this weekend there were 2,578.

The seven-day incidence in Upper Austria is currently 471.9 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. The highest value was calculated at 615 for the Urfahr environment district, the lowest value was reported at 230 in the Schärding district.

In Upper Austria, 82 people were in the hospital on a normal ward yesterday, and two patients needed intensive care in our state. A 96-year-old died in the Wels Land district at the weekend.
