The middle school in Neukirchen has been involved in Erasmus projects for many years, which involve contact with foreign students and exchange with peers from European countries. After a Corona break, a project with a Finnish school could be carried out this year.
Already in the spring, eleven students traveled to Tornio, a town in Lapland. There they lived for a week with the family of an exchange partner. Now the return visit followed: six students and two teachers experienced a varied week. For the guests from the far north, the hot and sunny weather was completely unfamiliar.
Director Herbert Muhr and the project team are convinced that the exchange will improve foreign language and digital skills. Getting to know other cultures also helps to reduce fears and prejudices towards strangers and to educate young people to become cosmopolitan citizens.
