Exactly in the parking lot where just a few days ago a car became independent and threatened to fall into the Traun, the same thing happened again on Sunday evening: After a local parked his car and slammed the door, the vehicle slowly started Movement. The man had obviously not pulled the handbrake and had to watch as his car rolled down the embankment. Luckily it got stuck there just in front of the bank.
The driver of the accident alerted the Lauffen volunteer fire brigade, whose armory is located right next to it. Operations manager Florian Laimer decided to request the heavy rescue vehicle from the Bad Ischl fire department, which is equipped with a crane, for the rescue. “We could have pulled the car back with a winch,” he says. “But that could have damaged it.” The Lauffen comrades secured the car with a cable winch until the crane arrived.
In the end, the car was safely recovered by 20 firefighters. The only thing that was damaged when it rolled down was the bumper. “It’s quite possible that the incident will make it into the next carnival newspaper,” says Laimer.
