An act of helpfulness ended for a 23-year-old German in the hospital. The young vacationer was on Sunday evening with friends on the left bank of the Traun below the Traunfall in Desselbrunn. Three young people were also on site and filmed the area with a drone they had brought with them. The device crashed on ledges.
The 23-year-old and his friends helped find the drone and, according to Philip Kathrein of the Roitham Volunteer Fire Service, descended from above into rough terrain onto a ledge. The drone was found – but the German slipped while climbing back. He fell several meters and fell backwards into the Traun. The injured person remained with his companions in a hard-to-reach place on the bank until the emergency services arrived. The fire brigades set up a ramp from scaling ladder parts and lowered a small inflatable boat. The injured 23-year-old and his two shocked companions were brought safely to shore.
The young man was taken to the Vöcklabruck Clinic by helicopter. There it was determined that he had not suffered any serious fractures. According to the hospital, he was released yesterday and has already started his journey home to Germany.
