Valentin Pfeil has already largely stopped training for competitions, he only laces up his running shoes for personal fitness. But that was enough for the Steyr city run in a heat battle on Sunday. As a forerunner, the state champion over 10,000 meters and the half marathon always had the field of participants under control over the seven-kilometer circuit. With two laps to run, Pfeil left the finish line after 21 minutes 42.4 seconds, more than a minute earlier than club colleague from LAC Steyr, Jochen Kollnreitner, passed the line. Third was Hannes Bühringer from LCA Umdasch Amstetten.
In the case of the women, the winner’s trophy moves away from the city. Jasmin Zweimüller, eighteenth overall, won the women’s classification with a time of 0:27:43.9, followed by Manuela Geiblinger from ASKÖ BMW BSV Steyr in second place.
The city championship title, which was awarded to the participating Steyr runners at the same time, went to Pfeil and in the case of the women to Geiblinger. Organizer Fritz Steinparz and 70 helpers from LAC Steyr were “happy that the starting signal for the city run could be fired again”.
