“This means that unemployment has fallen by 1,097 people compared to the previous week,” said Labor Minister Martin Kocher on Tuesday. Pre-registrations for short-time work have also fallen; 28,038 people are currently in this labor market measure. The GDP indicator of the OECD shows growth of 4.4 percent for the week before last.
The minister also gave figures on the work integration of Ukrainians: At the end of May, 6,850 were registered with the AMS and were therefore looking for a job in Austria. What is striking here is the high proportion of people with an academic education, which is almost a third (31 percent). 34 percent have completed compulsory schooling, 12 percent have higher education, 6 percent have completed an apprenticeship and 3 percent have intermediate education. The remaining 15 percent could not be conclusively assigned to any educational level due to a lack of sufficient information.
